Accurately measuring performance and results is an essential part of successfully implementing any policy. Therefore, it is imperative to emphasize the importance of having robust capacity for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the agricultural sector in Nigeria at all levels. As part of its commitment towards bolstering the national capacity for evidence-based decision-making in agriculture, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) delivered a training course for staff of the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Kaduna Agricultural Development Project from 17-19 December 2018 in Kaduna State.
The course, titled “Monitoring and Evaluation for Results” which was attended by 24 participants (21 male, 3 female) covered topics such as data collection, data management and the development of result and logical frameworks. At the end of the training, participants expressed their gratitude, stating that the course had equipped them with the knowledge and skills they needed to more effectively carry out their work in this important area from now on.
The training course was part of capacity building activities of the Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project. The Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Nigeria) and jointly implemented by Michigan State University and IFPRI’s Nigeria Strategy Support Program.
