As part of efforts towards strengthening Nigeria’s capacity for greater evidence-based policy processes in agriculture by increasing the capacity of Nigerian analysts to undertake and make widely available relevant evidence-based policy analysis, on 11-14 June 2018, a team of two (2) trainers from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)’s Nigeria Strategy Support Program (NSSP) facilitated a training course on “Introduction to Survey Data Analysis using Stata” for 29 (22 males and 7 females) graduate students and faculty of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State.
As a result of this training, participants’ capacity in handling data for evidence-based decision making was enhanced. Participants were also introduced to the World Bank’s Nigeria Living Standards Measurement Study data which is representative at the national level and can be used to inform various policies in the agricultural sector.
This training course was organized by the Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project, which is jointly implemented by IFPRI and Michigan State University (MSU) with funding from United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Nigeria).
