The study sought to identify some of the principal factors that can incentivize the clustering of rice milling firms, the type of economic efficiencies to be gained from such industry clustering, and the potential effects on the industry’s competitiveness with imports on both price and product quality in domestic markets. In the process, the study helped to highlight the various incentives and/or dis-incentives of participation by the private sector as there is very limited knowledge on this in Nigeria, and Africa in general, and yet such clusters already exist to some extent. This research activity was finalized in year one of program implementation. Findings emanating from this research work are published in NSSP Working Paper No. 40.
