On December 13-14, 2016, a team of two trainers from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) facilitated an intermediate Policy Communications training course at Ahmadu Bello University which was attended by 21 faculty members. The Policy Communications course was designed to provide participants with a practical framework for designing communication strategies and working with online systems for effective policy communication.
The training emphasized on developing participants’ knowledge and skills to effectively strategize, plan, and communicate program and policy data that can be used to support decision-making within the context of the country’s national development agendas. This particular course was designed to build up on knowledge that was gained during an introductory Policy Communication training course that was delivered at the same institution on July 13-14, 2016. The current course was well-received and appreciated with participants expressing satisfaction for both course content and delivery. The training was facilitated by Mr. John Mazunda (Country Program Manager, IFPRI) and Ms. Bisola Oyediran (Communications Assistant, IFPRI).
This training course was part of the activities in connection with the Feed the Future Nigeria Agricultural Policy Project, a joint effort between IFPRI’s Nigeria Strategy Support Program (NSSP) and Michigan State University funded by USAID-Nigeria.
