Head of IFPRI-NSSP Office delivers public seminar, public lectures in Beijing

Following an invitation by the IFPRI Beijing Office, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Peking University, Dr. George Mavrotas, Head of the IFPRI Abuja Office, delivered one public seminar and two public lectures in Beijing in November 2017.

On November 10, 2017, he delivered a public seminar on the key challenges in the area of international development assistance at the Center for International Agricultural Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing, organized by the Center. The event which was attended by many faculty members of CAAS and many postgraduate and PhD students, was co-chaired by Prof. Nie Fengying, Director of the Center for International Agricultural Research and Dr. Kevin Chen, Head of IFPRI Beijing Office.

Dr. Mavrotas was also invited by the National School of Development of Peking University to deliver one guest lecture on advanced topics in the macroeconomics of foreign aid on November 13, 2017, attended by many postgraduate students of Peking University (including a very substantial number of postgraduate students from Africa) and chaired by Prof. Xiaobo Zhang of Peking University.

Finally, on November 16, 2017, he gave a public lecture on foreign aid in an era of global development challenges at Peking University, jointly organized by the National School of Development and the Center of New Structural Economics of Peking University, attended by Faculty members and many graduate students at the University, and followed by a stimulating discussion, moderated by Prof. Xiaobo Zhang of Peking University.
